CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Belk, a Southern, U.S.-based department-store retailer announced that Mark Chandler has joined the company as EVP operations, reporting to Johnny Belk, president and COO. Chandler was previously SVP supply chain for Price Chopper Supermarkets / Golub Corp. of Schenectady, N.Y.
“We’re pleased to welcome Mark to Belk,” said Johnny Belk. “He brings a wealth of talent and experience in supply chain, inventory management, strategic sourcing and overall retail operations, and we’re excited to have him join our executive leadership team.”
Chandler joined Price Chopper as VP supply chain in 2005. Prior to joining Price Chopper, Chandler was senior partner and director of the grocery and consumer packaged goods division of Kurt Salmon Associates consulting firm in Atlanta, Ga., and before that was employed from 1985 to 1994 by Exxon Company USA in Houston, Texas, where his positions included information technology systems manager, retail district manager and retail/wholesale pricing director.
Chandler is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and received his master’s of business administration degree from the University of Houston. He is also a graduate of the Goizueta Executive Program at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
