HBC taps former Target exec for interim finance lead

Hudson's Bay Company has appointed Douglas Scovanner as EVP of finance and accounting, on an interim basis. Scovanner will support acting CFO with the day-to-day stewardship of the company’s financial planning, asset protection and accounting functions.

Prior to this appointment, Scovanner spent nearly two decades at Target, most recently as EVP and CFO.

“Doug’s broad background in finance, where he led a 3,000 person organization, will maintain the stability we have had within our finance organization,” said governor and CEO Richard Baker. “Doug has been working with our business, in an advisory capacity, for the last several months, and has familiarity with our business, allowing for a smooth transition.”

Prior to joining Target, Scovanner served as SVP of finance at Tthe Fleming Companies and VP and treasurer at Coca-Cola Enterprises. Scovanner has served on the boards of several organizations, including TCF Financial Corporation, the Minnesota Orchestral Association and the Greater Metropolitan Housing Corporation.

In addition, he is a former trustee of the Darden School Foundation of the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Scovanner earned an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University.

He was elected as director by the board of Prudential Financial, effective Nov. 11. Scovanner is also a managing member of Comprehensive Financial Strategies, LLC, a firm that provides advisory services, primarily to the retail industry.
