Apple tops Fortune's most admired list

Fortune has released its 2012 list of the 50 most admired companies, and it should come as no surprise that Apple topped the list.

Target does well, but Fortune’s Most Admired misses retail mark

Target ranked 25th on Fortune’s listing of the 50 Most Admired Companies, which is the lowest level in the past six years. The decline could be viewed as troubling, but only if you buy into the notion that the list is the definitive report card on corporate reputations.

Faster growth required to advance on Fortune’s list

Although revenues at Target last year increased 3.1% to nearly $67.4 billion, other big companies grew faster, and Target slipped three spots to 33rd from 30th in Fortune’s annual ranking of America’s 500 largest companies.

More admired than Costco, not as much as Walmart

The March issue of Fortune contains the magazine’s annual ranking of the most admired companies, and this year’s list shows Target ranked 22nd. Only Walmart (11) and Nordstrom (21) were ranked ahead of the company.
