Target.com fell to number 42 on comScore’s monthly list of the top 50 U.S. online properties, as other companies attracted more unique visitors at a faster pace than Target. In fact, the 25.6 million unique visitors to Target.com during September was essentially the same as the prior year, which is why the company slipped from its ranking at number 35.
Even so, Target and Walmart are the only two conventional retailers who attracted enough visitors in September to be included on the list. Walmart saw the number of unique visitors to its site increase, but not enough to prevent it from slipping in the rankings, although not as far as Target. Walmart.com tallied 35.9 million visitors, which placed it at 27 on the list compared with the prior year when it was at 25 with 31.1 million visitors.
